Pompilla S. Agalo as “Pompi,” was the voice of “Sleepless,” a popular late-night rock radio show, on 95.9 Touch FM, 2009 -2011 in Kampala. What became known as Kampala’s first Rock Music Concert, staged at Uganda national cultural center -2011, was her feat.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology from Makerere, and a master’s degree in media studies & journalism from Uganda Christian University.
Her short story on life in a Roman Catholic Girls’ Boarding School during the times of the LRA rebel insurgency, is featured in an anthology: Threads and Faces: Stories of belonging and identity, published by African Writers Trust – AWT, 2022.
Pompilla’s lively voice is heard once more in her debut literary works: The Faces in their Eyes – a memoir of a spirited love – 2023. It tells the story of resilience in the face of recurring adversities, in the life of a girl child from the warring regions of northern Uganda, her adoption into an Italian family, and how such experiences shaped the individual she has become: A radio host, teacher, event planner, author, inspirational speaker, and founder of a student’s skills-based foundation.
Pompilla S. Agalo Foundation is a membership foundation she established, to train students in out-of-classroom activities that persuade meaningful interactions with the world outside schools.
Pompilla is outgoing, rebellious and available! She is a lot of fun, a creative cook, and has a great interest in Acholi culture. While she calls Gulu-Uganda home, she lives in Kampala where she instructs the Information & Communication Technology class at Bishop Cipriano Kihangire Senior Secondary School.
Her 2023’s, The Faces in their Eyes’ book tour in America titled, Education of the Acholi child in Post IDP – Internally Displaced People’s settlement, kicked off at the UNAA convention – Northern Uganda Forum- September 2023.
